In 2025, GSoC continues this legacy, offering flexible project timelines (8–22 weeks) and stipends for completed work. It’s not a job at Google—think of it as an independent coding adventure with mentorship and community support.

- January 27 – February 11: Mentoring organizations applied to Google.
- February 27: Accepted organizations were announced (185 this year!).
- February 27 – March 24: Discuss project ideas with organizations (happening now!).
- March 24 – April 8: Contributor application period—submit your proposals!
- May 8: Accepted projects announced.
- May 8 – June 1: Community bonding period—get to know your mentors and codebase.
- June 2: Coding begins!
- July 14 – July 18: Midterm evaluations for standard 12-week projects.
- August 25 – September 8: Final submissions and evaluations (standard timeline).
- September 1 – November 17: Extended timelines wrap up.
